Wow what a fantastic automatic milking system. I am really really impressed watching it.
I've worked on dairy farms in my youth and while a lot of the technology is admirable there is one area of concern. About 3.20 the automatic milker where the cow is chained in a stall and only backs out to enter the machine then returns to the stall. Surely with ethical farming moving away from intensive pig rearing, battery chicken farming and heading towards free range this is not the way to go in dairy farming. If they don't spend their whole day chained then why chain, unchain and not run them through a more traditional milking parlour?
Is this process cost effective.compared to partially manual handling?with all these robotics the cost and electricity should be high compared to the price of milk produced.
