Rain, the night prior to the event, did not hinder teamsters or visitors from enjoying a great day. Watch a 12 horse, 6 horse, 4 horse and a 3 horse team in action. Tak
What a great way to enjoy family but still get her done!! We had some one lose his 100 yr old ???? barn last summer, neighbours came together and this year are holding a barn raising for him. He lost 62 milkers. His herd now is 20 yearling heifers that were saved because they were in pasture across the street from the farm by the river. Other farmers took in his 20 heifers, fed them up over winter.
The farmer who lost his barn, gave his hay and silage to the farmer who took in his young heifers for this past winter. Now those heifers are 2, so one farmer "donated" the services of his bull for AI, to help this farmer out. It really is a community that will step up if need be. I've been invited to the barn raising as "medic on site".
It is a great honor for me to have said yes. Family was all fine. New barn will have fire extinguishers overhead, running between the lighting, up to date milking equipment has been donated, as has calf shacks. Amazing community of the grassroots farmer. Thank you so much for all you do. Everyone sees the final product, but never think how it got there. My family and I do, and we say Thank You!
