Woodworking:whats with everyone saying "this guy is an idiot for not using a crane, all though a crane would be ideal for this job not every company can afford a crane. and to hire a crane company by the day would in turn cost the customer far to much then they would be willing to pay.

Quaresma: Ponderosa Pine weighs about 80 lbs per foot green so that piece weighed between 300 and 350 lbs.  1 wrap will safely handle 300 lbs, but their ropes were wet because it was raining, so they needed to add about 1 to 1-1/2 wraps.   Climbers should know this, and relay information to the groundy so that the groundy knows how many wraps to put on the piece.    The groundy can't accurately determine the size of the piece being rigged from his position on the ground, so it's up to the climber to estimate the weight of the piece and let the groundy know either the weight or the number of wraps needed to safely lower the chunk.
