steve underwood:I teach my young firefighters who are becoming fallers to look up (he didn't once) and to always wrap their thumbs around the handle.  I am not sure why he didn't do a boring back cut?  Using a plunge cut that way is unfamiliar to me.  Lastly, a Humboldt cut would have given him more lumber.  It does seem like he has dropped trees with these methods a bunch.
