The Arming Areas are generally on the catapult tracks. Forward Firing Ordnance on fixed wing aircraft is "armed" when the aircraft is on the catapult. Helicopters must be pointed in a safe direction (as they are not catapulted). They are 'Jet Blast Deflectors" not jet blast detectors. The Island doesn't have floors ... it has "decks" ... CPL Kiefer (USMC) will really be pissed off when he learns the 3rd Marine Division is now in the US Army. Ya know ... there's a book out there ... you can probably Google it ... would have helped you tons in the making/editing of this piece. someone needs to research the facts a little better.. Aircraft are worked on in the hanger deck.. most of the aircraft are on the flight deck.. On the carier I was on the hanger deck was above the mess deck.
