Durning the 2011 Wappapello Flood Fight,
a temporary rock dike was constructed along the lake side of Wappapello Lake's dam overflow spillway in efforts to keep high water flowing through the dam's gates instead of over the spillway where it would damage the highway and other infrastructure.
Comments: - - Being from the area, it failed, and the highway was destroyed anyway.
They tried, but levels rose again and ended up washing over the emergency spillway.
If you look at google maps, you'll see where the highway was redirected.
Most people wish they would have built a bridge instead of redirecting highway T.
