I worked in the mines for 28 years, we used a lot of the 2 inch rope chokers for pulling equipment, and used the 1 1/2 wire rope for our winch lines. You would not believe how incredibly strong these wire ropes are. Just like anything else after time they will stretch and become weak they become dangerous then as well. When there is extreme pressure on one of those cables and they break it can take a leg or arm off if your in its path. Braiding a two inch line is a workout I can imagine how difficult it would be to braid one of those huge cables. Great video, very interesting.

As a merchant seaman it's amazing for me to see that no matter how big or complex the machinery is to weave the rope/wire, you still need a pair of human hands to make the eye splices.
