My grandpa engineered a steam locomotive for the Dierks lumber Co . In Broken Bow Ok . It can be viewed online located at the chamber of commerce at the intersection of US 259 and 70 . He worked 18 hr days to go north in McCurtain County to load a 10 car log train that was loaded by mules and men and then back down the mountains to Wright City sawmill and then a 30 min walk home to the lumber camp , for 50 cents a hour .He used to tell me about the good ole days only to remind me there wasn't anything good about those ole days . That was post war to the mid 60's.
