I served in the Army as a tanker doing the Vietnam war. I didn't make it to Vietnam but served in Germany, where I served in Elvis Presley old unit,1st. Battalion,32nd Armor,Alfa company. In all of my years of service we had very few accidents such as you see in this video. Its clear we are some well trained warriors with well built equipment or plain lucky as hell.
A 10 ton behind me flipped on its side to avoid me. He had better brakes but avoiding hitting me. We were overloaded and sent down too close together. I went wide and buried in the mud. The rest made it to the flat, and came back to rescue us. I was freaked out rolling down that hill. But we all had a laugh about it. We shared our curse words about that road. One guy said, when he split between our vehicles on the curve, He said "No fucking way", for minutes until he got stopped. We went a dozen times up and down that hill. Concrete first. All the asbestos(you see right), and other material last. What they said about asbestos? Just keep your window closed to the collecting site. There were 2 inch diameter holes around my clutch, gas, and brake pedals. Seems safe
Back in '86, I just got my M877 back from a rebuild and was driver training some new guys to the unit. One of them got it stuck in a stream because the 4 wheel drive wasn't working (some rebuild huh?) and cracked the transfer case trying to get it out.
