Forgive my ignorance but is this the most efficient way to load ships? Seems it would be easier/quicker to designed a ramp for the trucks to back up over the edge of the cargo bays and dump directly into the ship or have a conveyor belt loading system.

Faster to have the trucks dump right into the ship no?. Build a elevated ramp for the trucks to drive on.

I understand that the loading of this or that cargo has different subtleties, but sometimes the title and the topic of the video are of such a "character" that one wants to answer.
