The plastic sheeting is folded into four sections. Do not unfold completely to attach to the bucket. Only unfold the first center-fold. Then tape the plastic to the bucket. It will be a stronger connection and the rest of the plastic will unfold as you use it. Make sure the plastic sheeting is long enough to allow the snow to glide the full length of your roof, and still hang down a bit. Otherwise it will get stuck on the roof.
