Com: Steve: There were 10 of these units built by the Melroe Brothers (Les and Irvin) at Longmont, CO., in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I believe the unit shown here was Unit #5 of 10 which orginally was shipped to Texas in 1978. It is my understanding that this Unit #5 of 10 was retrieved out of a bone yard in California around 1998 and hauled back to Gillette WY where a mining machinery repair shop was contracted to rebuild it to like new for some $650,000. The customer who paid for this was the Gerald Gentleman Power Plant in Sutherland, NB based on their experience after acquiring Units #1 and #2 and having successfully run them 24/7 for 20 years before retiring them in 1998.
